When William Edward Phelan was born on December 13, 1935, in Seligman, Arizona, his father, Eugene, was 44 and his mother, Eunice, was 31. He married Nita Carole Guild and they had two children together. He also had three children with another wife. He died on October 20, 1992, in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 56, and was buried in Montgomery, Ohio.
